Make a great first impression!
- Walk up to your entry as if you were a visitor. Entry should be clean, neat. Consider: washing or repainting the front door, replacing the door mat
- Are your house numbers easy to see and read? If not, replace them
- Make sure the doorbell works
- Does your garden look its best for the season? Keep hedges, lawn trimmed, plant seasonal flowers in beds or pots
- Is your paint fresh, or peeling?
- Clean and shining windows are a must!
- If time allows, work with your real estate professional to have roof and termite inspections before you go on the market. Repairs recommended in these areas and done ahead of time may help your home sell for more money and in less time
- Keep the garage door closed; if it is used for storage, try to keep a path for prospective buyers to look around
Inside Ambiance
- Give every room a thorough cleaning; rather than move worn or outgrown items, give to charity or throw out. Eliminating clutter will also make your home appear larger and make it easier for the buyer to visualize themselves in your home
- Have a garage sale or get a storage unit if necessary
- Clean carpets. Pay special attention to pet odors and stains. Not everyone loves your pet as much as you do!
- Be sure your kitchen and baths especially shine –all the time
- Keep fresh clean towels in the bathrooms
- Re-paint or do ‘touch up’ painting if walls look scuffed and worn
- Check for leaking faucets, shower heads, broken windows, replace light bulbs
